CONTAINING COVID19: Containerisation’s Role in Global Vaccine Logistics
15 April 2021 | FROM 10:30 BST

While the first wave of ultra-low temperature COVID19 vaccine distribution is centred mainly around airfreight and road, containerisation is already playing a vital role in meeting the world’s greatest ever supply chain challenge. Over coming weeks and months, that role is only set to grow.

Today, container shipping is already enabling the international distribution of syringes, vials, PPE and other key medical equipment needed to administer vaccines. Container ports are stepping up as vaccine logistics hubs, working with airfreight, ocean and landside logistics to provide much-needed cold storage capacity and other supply chain services. Specialist ultra-deep freeze refrigerated containers are filling a gap where cold chain infrastructure is lacking. And as new vaccines roll out rapidly that do not require such deep refrigeration, reefer containers will play a growing role both in transport and storage.

This online seminar and virtual networking event brings together public and private stakeholders from across the global container shipping, cold chain and healthcare worlds to discuss the challenges and opportunities of vaccine logistics.

Attendance of this event is free of charge to delegates.

Topics:

  • Containerised vaccine logistics over the next 2 years - global and regional perspectives
  • 'It's not a vaccine, it's a patient': What's needed for safe carriage of COVID19 vaccines in containers and what can be learnt from existing containerised pharma logistics?
  • What are the risk, liability and insurance implications?
  • How do we safeguard vaccine integrity and avoid temperature excursions across complex multimodal cold chains?
  • What are the options for sea-air collaboration?
  • In-transit visibility, traceability and chain of custody - IoT, data and digitalisation
  • Managing regulatory processes and documentation for cross-border vaccine trade
  • What can the container industry do to help in the fight against counterfeit vaccines and ancillaries?
  • What are the key steps to GDP compliant container logistics?
  • Will there be enough of the right reefer containers to fulfil demand?
  • How will other segments of the reefer container market be impacted?
  • What are the implications for ports and other critical infrastructure?
  • Packing and packaging - best practice and new technology
  • Implications for container refrigeration technology
  • How can containers help at the last mile of vaccine storage and delivery?
  • Health security - protecting seafarers, port staff and other frontline logistics and transport workers; co-ordinating international vaccinations
  • How to foster cross-industry and private-public sector collaboration in end-to-end container logistics and seafreight solutions for vaccine, pharma and healthcare supply chains
